To enrol onto the level 4 course, you must be at least 18 and have a full secondary education. Before enrolling onto the level 5 course, you must have attained a level 4 or equivalent.

Course Content

Principles underpinning health and social care

There are professional norms of conduct for all social workers and health care providers. This module’s goal is to increase knowledge of the principles, philosophies, and laws that guide health and social care practices as well as the systems in place to encourage best practices in the industry.

The management of quality in health and social care

Quality is a term with a wide range of meanings and viewpoints that is crucial to the provision of health and social care services. In order to empower and involve service users, this module aims to help learners gain an awareness of various viewpoints on the quality of health and social care services and how it is assessed.

Research project

The objective of this module is to enhance the learners’ abilities in independent research and critical analysis through the completion of a small-scale pilot study that directly relates to their professional or higher education program.

Partnership working in health and social care

This program aims to provide students a better knowledge of the value of collaborating productively with others in the health and social care sectors. Students will investigate three facets of collaboration. Initially, they will look at collaborations with service users who support independence and provide people with the knowledge they need to make decisions. Secondly, students will examine inter-agency collaboration and partnerships between various health and social care providers. Lastly, students will look into organizational alliances and explore various forms of collaboration.

Working with service users with complex needs

The aim of this unit is to help learners to understand issues of health, disability and illness and how health care professionals can empower those with complex physical and mental health needs to determine their own care.
