The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is renowned as one of Europe’s leading institutions in the visual creative disciplines, offering a studio-based education and cutting-edge research across art, design, architecture, and technology. Located in the vibrant heart of Glasgow, GSA provides a rich, immersive experience with its specialized programs at undergraduate, postgraduate, and research levels, along with short courses, portfolio classes, and opportunities for international exchange and study abroad.

Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, serves as an inspiring backdrop with its diverse cultural and artistic heritage. The city is home to some of the UK’s most esteemed art galleries, museums, and performing arts organizations, such as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and The National Theatre of Scotland. The GSA campus is strategically positioned near significant cultural landmarks like the Glasgow Film Theatre, Centre for Contemporary Arts, Tron, Tramway, Transmission, Street Level, The Lighthouse Centre for Architecture and Design, and Glasgow Science Centre, creating an extensive Creative Network that enhances student and graduate opportunities.

The Technical Support Department (TSD) at GSA plays a pivotal role in supporting students through a variety of specialist facilities and resources. TSD provides access to a wide range of equipment and tools necessary for creating artwork, including resources for 3D making, architecture, fashion and textiles, media production, and photography. Facilities available include advanced 3D printing and laser cutting, comprehensive architecture workshops, fashion and textiles areas, and extensive media studios for audio, video, and digital work. Additionally, students can benefit from dedicated printmaking, silversmithing, and jewelry studios, all designed to facilitate a high level of technical proficiency and creative exploration.

For those new to the GSA, comfortable and secure accommodation is available in purpose-built halls of residence, just a short walk from the main campus. These halls provide a supportive living environment with easy access to campus facilities and local amenities, ensuring a smooth transition into student life. The GSA also offers accommodation options for students studying at the Highlands and Islands campus in Forres.

With a commitment to fostering creativity and professional development, GSA provides an exceptional environment for students to explore their artistic potential and engage with the broader creative community. Whether you are drawn to fine art, design, architecture, or innovation, GSA equips you with the skills and opportunities to make a significant impact in the contemporary world.
