University of Reading

The University of Reading has been a prominent figure in UK higher education for nearly a century, known for its innovative approaches and pioneering efforts in both academic and social spheres.
We are dedicated to continually improving our institution by building on our rich history to shape an outstanding future. Our strategy is anchored by four core principles: a deep passion for learning, the creation of new knowledge, the celebration of diversity in people and ideas, and a commitment to environmental sustainability.
In 2016, we proudly celebrated the 90th anniversary of receiving our Royal Charter from King George V. This milestone underscores our longstanding tradition of excellence and our ongoing commitment to academic and social progress.
Welcoming over 23,000 students from around the globe, the University of Reading boasts award-winning campuses in Reading, Henley-upon-Thames, Johannesburg, and Iskandar. These campuses feature modern study facilities, residence halls, support services, cafes, and bars, providing a vibrant and supportive environment for students and staff alike.
Our main campus, situated in 130 hectares of beautiful parkland, serves as the heart of university life. With a lake, woodlands, and the popular Harris Garden, the campus provides ample space for dining, shopping, studying, and socializing. Recognized with 14 consecutive Green Flag awards, it stands as one of Britain’s premier green spaces. The scenic surroundings are available for the enjoyment of students, staff, and the local community.
The campus is a thriving community, featuring the Students’ Union, a well-equipped library, excellent study areas, two on-site museums, various shops and amenities, and several halls of residence. Our campus eateries offer a wide variety of food options, from stir-fries to traditional pub lunches, catering to diverse tastes and preferences.
The Reading Students’ Union supports a wide range of sports and dance clubs, all run voluntarily by students. With over 50 groups, including both competitive and non-competitive activities, there is something for everyone, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional. Our extensive sports facilities include courts, pitches, and playing fields, as well as a fully equipped sports centre with a gym.
With three bustling campuses, the University of Reading offers ample opportunities for part-time work during your studies through Campus Jobs, a joint initiative between Careers and the HR department, providing safe and secure temporary work for students. Our societies cater to a wide range of interests, with over 100 groups in categories such as Academic & Career, Arts, Campaigns & Causes, Culture & Faith, Hobbies & Interests, and Politics. These societies are beginner-friendly, with options for mixed-ability and advanced levels, ensuring a diverse and enriching experience for all participants.
