About our Course
The Level 3 University Foundation Programme is a 60-credit qualification, comparable to an A level, designed to prepare students for careers in financial management and accountancy. This course aims to provide students with foundational knowledge in accountancy and the skills necessary to quickly adapt and advance in their learning journey.
The Level 3 Diploma in Business Management comprises three modules and three written assignments, with each module offering around 40 guided learning hours. During the course, students will benefit from various study resources, including tutor support, webinars, a social learning forum, and additional materials to aid in completing their graduate business studies.
Upon successful completion, students will earn an OTHM Level 3 Accountancy Qualification, fully regulated by Ofqual. This qualification allows students to apply for admission to a full undergraduate degree program at various UK universities. Alternatively, students can choose to pursue a Level 4/5 Diploma in Accounting and Business and then complete an undergraduate top-up at a range of UK universities.
This course is most suited to individuals who are at least 16 years old, have a high school education and wish to progress onto a degree at university.
This course is also eligible for ELCAS funding.

Course Content
The Level 3 course includes three modules and three written assignments. Each module features 40 guided learning hours of material, along with an extra 30-50 hours of optional content. This additional content includes recommended exercises, readings, internet resources, and self-assessment activities.
Recording financial transaction
This module aims to provide learners with a fundamental understanding of recording financial transactions. It covers the essential requirements for accurate and complete financial transaction recording, such as source documents. Additionally, the module delves into the classification and management of income and expenditure.
Management information
This module aims to enhance learners’ understanding of cost and management accounting, focusing on the purpose of management information. It introduces the use of ICT for recording management information, discussing its benefits and drawbacks.
Maintaining financial records
This module aims to help learners understand the importance of maintaining financial records. Learners will develop skills in using the double-entry bookkeeping system and in preparing a three-column cash book and a bank reconciliation statement.
Assignments
The Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Accountancy includes three written assignments, each ranging from approximately 2,000 to 3,000 words. Students receive support for the modules and assignments through the ‘Tutor’ section of the learning platform.
